Clik here to view.It was announced recently that the largest hospital in Missouri — and one of “America’s best hospitals” for 19 consecutive years — has launched a wide-scale appointment reminder solution using technology from Florida-based SMS provider 3Cinteractive.
Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is widely regarded as a “forward-thinking facility by continually offering cutting-edge care,” and wanted to integrate mobile into its existing patient management systems for better communication with patients. The facility’s mobile appointment abandonment solution is aimed at reducing missed or canceled appointments which cost the hospital revenue and hinder the delivery of proper care to patients.
“With “no show” rates in the U.S. as high as 35%, missed or canceled appointments can cost the typical hospital millions annually in lost revenue,” said Barry Hix, General Manager of Healthcare Solutions at 3Cinteractive. “When secondary costs such as lost staff productivity and unnecessary future medical care are accounted for that number soars even higher.”
The initial launch of Barnes-Jewish’s appointment abandonment solution was in their OB/GYN clinic and will soon be rolled out to other medicine and surgical ambulatory clinics. This is the first step in Barnes-Jewish’s initiative to leverage the reach and power of mobile technology, the organization said. 3Cinteractive (3Ci) is known for providing mobile health solutions for the healthcare industry and says its solutions are currently being utilized by millions of patients each and every month.
